CHINA CRISIS
24/04/2025
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
China Crisis formed in Kirkby, Merseyside in 1979 by the core duo of lead vocalist/keyboardist Gary Daly and guitarist/vocalist Eddie Lundon. They found commercial success throughout the 1980s, boasting ten top 50 singles and three top 40 albums. Their most notable songs include ‘African & White’, ‘Chrstian’, ‘Working with Fire and Steel’, ‘Black Man Ray’ and ‘Wishful Thinking’.
Citing acts like Bowie, Brian Eno and Steely Dan as influences, China Crisis became key players in the emerging synth-pop scene. However, they’ve borrowed from various styles across their career; combining elements of jazz, reggae and ambient to name a few. Their genre defying sound paired with quick political commentary has never gone out of style, even 40 years later.
Tickets for this concert are £30.50 in advance.
Please note there are no physical tickets for this concert. When you book online your name is added to an attendee list that is used at the venue on the night of the performance.
Venue: St Mary Magdalene Church, Cobham
Address:
Description:
This Grade I listed church, which dates from the mid 13th Century, overlooks the street in the centre of our village. The medieval architecture provides a spectacular backdrop to our musical events. The chancel contains an internationally famous collection of medieval brasses commemorating the de Cobham family.
The church is open daily during daylight hours and is well worth a visit in its own right together with the adjacent medieval College which was built by the de Cobham for the priests, who were appointed to say masses for the family members buried in the church.
